Code editors and IDEs

A new editor release can need more memory, change the interface or drop an older operating system. Small text editors start fast; full IDEs add debugging and refactoring for one language or platform. These 19 apps list older versions, so you can pin the build that works on your machine.

What you’ll find here

This page covers code editors, text editors and integrated development environments (IDEs) for Windows and macOS. It includes general-purpose editors such as Visual Studio Code and Vim-style editors, as well as language-specific IDEs for Java, Python, C and C++, .NET, Go, JavaScript and Android. Each app has its own page with installer formats, architectures, checksums and release notes where the publisher provides them.

The 19 apps listed here are Android Studio, CLion, Code::Blocks, Cursor, GoLand, IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition, JetBrains Rider, JetBrains Toolbox, MarkText, Microsoft Visual Studio Code, Neovim, Notepad++, Pulsar, PyCharm Community Edition, Sublime Text 4, Thonny, VSCodium, WebStorm, and Zed. All 19 run on Windows, and 13 also on macOS. Of these, 10 are open source. Between them the site lists 691 versions. Older versions are mostly available for Windows; for macOS the current release is usually the one listed. Everyversion hosts no installers: every download button goes to the download location named in the publisher’s package data, normally the publisher’s own server. For all 19 we downloaded the installers ourselves and re-computed their SHA-256.
