Video players and media centers
A player has to open every file you throw at it. Players play the file; media centers also organize your library and stream it to other screens. Here are 7 video players, media centers and streaming clients, with older versions listed where available.

What you’ll find here
This page covers video players, media centers and streaming clients for Windows and macOS, from lightweight players to library-based media servers and their desktop clients. Each app has its own page with versions, installers, SHA-256 checksums, and VirusTotal results where we have them.
The 7 apps listed here are Jellyfin Media Player, Kodi, MPC-HC, Plex, Streamlink, Stremio, and VLC media player. All 7 run on Windows, and 5 also on macOS. All 7 are open source. Between them the site lists 221 versions. Older versions are mostly available for Windows; for macOS the current release is usually the one listed. Everyversion hosts no installers: every download button goes to the download location named in the publisher’s package data, normally the publisher’s own server. For all 7 we downloaded the installers ourselves and re-computed their SHA-256.
