Choose the x64 (64-bit) installer for Intel or AMD PCs and the ARM64 installer for ARM PCs. The package data states no minimum Windows version, so check the publisher’s system requirements before installing on an older PC. Choose the Apple silicon (ARM64) build for Macs with an M-series chip and the Intel (x64) build for older Intel Macs. Every build needs macOS 12 Monterey or later. Choose the x64 (64-bit) download for Intel or AMD computers and the ARM64 download for ARM computers. The Flathub listing states no minimum Linux version or distribution, so check the publisher’s system requirements before installing.

What the installer does
Windows
- Delivered as an NSIS (Nullsoft) setup program (.exe) for x64 and ARM64.
- Offers both a per-user and an all-users installer.
- Must be run with administrator rights.
- No custom silent switch is declared; winget falls back to its default for this installer type (
/S). - Associates with the file types
.c,.cpp,.cxx,.h,.hpp,.hxx, and.ipr. - Upgrades remove the previous version first.
Mac
- Delivered as a disk image (.dmg) for Intel (x64) and Apple silicon (ARM64).
- Installs the app
CLion.appinto the Applications folder. - Requires macOS 12 or later.
- The app updates itself, so it may be newer than the version Homebrew lists.
- On uninstall, Homebrew asks the app to quit and stops background services.
- A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 5 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.
Linux
- Delivered as a "flatpak" installer for x64 and ARM64.
- The manifest does not state an install scope.
- No silent-install switch is declared in the manifest.

CLion 2026.2.4 brings several improvements and new features. Here are the highlights: - CLion now has a dedicated Lauterbach TRACE32 debug profile, so you can launch TRACE32 or attach to a running session directly from the IDE. Go to Settings | Build, Execution, Deployment | Debugger | Debug Profiles, click Add Profile, and select TRACE32. - When you debug a FreeRTOS application, AI agents that connect to CLion through MCP can now read RTOS objects, such as tasks, timers, and queues. - On macOS, the IDE now resolves Qt symbols in projects that use Qt 6.12. - We’ve fixed an issue caused by recent PlatformIO updates that prevented CLion from loading the list of boards when creating a new PlatformIO project. CLion 2026.2.3.1 is now available. This bugfix release delivers an urgent fix for a complete IDE freeze (IJPL-255654). In CLion 2026.2.3, the IDE could stop responding completely and had to be restarted. The freeze came from a race in the platform threading code, when a background write action tried to reacquire a lock after its job was cancelled. CLion now handles the cancellation safely and stays responsive. This release also fixes short UI freezes in the editor (CPP-48182). The breadcrumbs bar above the editor could hang for several seconds while it waited for the backend and held a read lock. The editor now stays responsive while the breadcrumbs update. CLion 2026.2.3 is out with several new features and improvements. Here are the highlights: - The IDE now supports NVIDIA CUDA Tile C++, recognizing the new syntax and providing dedicated inspections for Tile-specific code issues. This functionality is available for projects configured with CUDA Toolkit 13.3 or later and C++20. - The updated Profiles switcher in the main toolbar makes it easier to spot problems in toolchain and debug configurations. A yellow warning icon now indicates when the selected build system or toolchain profile is incompatible with the selected debug profile, for example, a CMake profile that uses the system toolchain on macOS paired with GDB. The icon appears both on the switcher and next to the affected profile inside it. Hover over the warning icon to see a description of the issue. You can also open profile settings directly from the switcher by clicking the gear icon. - Adding a comment to a C++ file with Clang-Format and Reformat Code on Save enabled no longer causes formatting to hang. CLion 2026.2 is now available, with improved agentic workflows and STM32 integration, simplified debugger configuration with debug profiles, and support for C++26 reflection, among other updates. Here are the highlights: - CLion 2026.2 ships with a bundled skill that gives AI agents direct access to the debugger. The skill works with GDB, LLDB, and DAP-based debuggers and is available for ACP-compatible agents. To invoke it, use /clion-debugger in Claude Code or $clion-debugger in Codex. We plan to add more embedded-related debugging features in a future update. - The IDE now supports STM32 Cube CLI, a new STM32 bundle manager that lets you download only the tools you need – such as CMake, ST-LINK GDB server, or GNU tools – and manage your development bundles directly in the IDE. CLion 2026.1 is now available, turning the IDE into an open environment for your AI workflows. It also offers an improved editor experience and support for custom project formats, DAP debugging via TCP, and Git worktrees. Here are the highlights: - In addition to Junie, Claude Agent, and most recently Codex, CLion now lets you work with more AI agents directly in the AI chat. You can choose from agents, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and many others supported via the Agent Client Protocol (ACP). - You can now use the c_cpp_properties.json file to easily set up or fine-tune code insight for all types of projects – including those based on unsupported project formats – and for non-project files, too.
