b10a33cb868d0ad5ff62460928a1c77f740d23450289c92c86358133b20baee7 Choose the x64 (64-bit) installer for Intel or AMD PCs. The x86 (32-bit) installer is only for 32-bit Windows. The package data states no minimum Windows version, so check the publisher’s system requirements before installing on an older PC. Choose the Apple silicon (ARM64) build for Macs with an M-series chip and the Intel (x64) build for older Intel Macs. Every build needs macOS 12 Monterey or later.

Install with Homebrew: brew install --cask openvpn-connect

What the installer does
Windows
- Delivered as a Windows Installer package built with WiX (.msi) for x64 and x86.
- Installs for all users on the PC, which normally requires administrator rights.
- No custom silent switch is declared; winget falls back to its default for this installer type (
/quiet /norestart). - Registers the
openvpn://andopenvpn-connect://link protocol. - Associates with the file types
.ocfgand.ovpn. - Upgrades install over the existing version.
Mac
- Delivered as a macOS installer package (.pkg) for Intel (x64) and Apple silicon (ARM64).
- Runs the installer package
OpenVPN_Connect_3_9_1(6051)_arm64_Installer_signed.pkg; package installers usually ask for an administrator password and can place files anywhere on the system. - Requires macOS 12 or later.
- On uninstall, Homebrew asks the app to quit, stops background services, forgets installer package receipts, removes login items, and deletes 2 extra files.
- A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 5 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.

OpenVPN Connect is a free and full-featured VPN Client. It is the official Client for all OpenVPN Inc. solutions. Any other OpenVPN protocol compatible Server will work with it too.
