What the installer does
Windows
- Delivered as a standalone setup program (.exe) for x64 and x86 and a Windows Installer package built with WiX (.msi) for x64.
- Offers both a per-user and an all-users installer.
- Supports unattended install with
--silent. - Declared install modes: interactive and silent.
- Registers the
sourcetree://link protocol. - Shows up in Windows “Installed apps” as “Sourcetree Enterprise”.
- Upgrades install over the existing version.
Mac
- Delivered as a ZIP archive for Apple silicon and Intel.
- Installs the app
Sourcetree.appinto the Applications folder. - Adds the command-line tool
streewhen installed with Homebrew. - The app updates itself, so it may be newer than the version Homebrew lists.
- On uninstall, Homebrew asks the app to quit and stops background services.
- A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 7 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.

Does Sourcetree update itself after I install an old version?
