What the installer does

Windows

• Delivered as an NSIS (Nullsoft) setup program (.exe) for x64 and ARM64.
• Installs for all users on the PC, which normally requires administrator rights.
• No custom silent switch is declared; winget falls back to its default for this installer type (/S).
• Registers the http://, https://, and mailto:// link protocol.
• Associates with the file types .avif, .htm, .html, .pdf, .shtml, .svg, .webp, .xht, and .xhtml.
• Upgrades install over the existing version.

Mac

• Delivered as a disk image (.dmg) for Intel (x64) and Apple silicon (ARM64).
• Installs the app LibreWolf.app into the Applications folder.
• The app updates itself, so it may be newer than the version Homebrew lists.
• A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 7 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.

Overview

This project is a custom and independent version of Firefox, with the primary goals of privacy, security and user freedom. LibreWolf is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements. This is achieved through our privacy and security oriented settings and patches. LibreWolf also aims to remove all the telemetry, data collection and annoyances, as well as disabling anti-freedom features like DRM.
