What the installer does
Windows
- Delivered as an Inno Setup program (.exe) for x86.
- Installs for all users on the PC, which normally requires administrator rights.
- The installer asks Windows for administrator rights itself.
- No custom silent switch is declared; winget falls back to its default for this installer type (
/SP- /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART). - Associates with the file type
.gnucash. - Upgrades install over the existing version.
Mac
- Delivered as a disk image (.dmg) for Intel (x64) and Apple silicon (ARM64).
- Installs the app
Gnucash.appinto the Applications folder. - A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 3 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.
Linux
- Delivered as a "flatpak" installer for x64 and ARM64.

GnuCash is personal and small-business financial-accounting software, freely licensed under the GNU GPL and available for GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.
