What the installer does

Windows

  • Delivered as an Inno Setup program (.exe) for x86.
  • Installs for all users on the PC, which normally requires administrator rights.
  • No custom silent switch is declared; winget falls back to its default for this installer type (/SP- /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART).
  • Registers the goggalaxy:// link protocol.
  • Upgrades install over the existing version.

macOS

  • Delivered as a macOS installer package (.pkg) for Intel (x64) and Apple silicon (ARM64).
  • Runs the installer package galaxy_client_2.1.10.56.pkg; package installers usually ask for an administrator password and can place files anywhere on the system.
  • Requires macOS 14 or later.
  • The app updates itself, so it may be newer than the version Homebrew lists.
  • On uninstall, Homebrew stops background services and deletes 1 extra file.
  • A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 7 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.
