What the installer does
Windows
- Delivered as a WiX Burn bootstrapper (.exe) for x64.
- Installs for all users on the PC, which normally requires administrator rights.
- Supports unattended install with
/passive /norestart. - Registers the
ealink://,link2ea://,origin://, andorigin2://link protocol. - Upgrades remove the previous version first.
macOS
- Delivered as a macOS installer package (.pkg) for Apple silicon and Intel.
- Runs the installer package
EA app.pkg; package installers usually ask for an administrator password and can place files anywhere on the system. - The app updates itself, so it may be newer than the version Homebrew lists.
- On uninstall, Homebrew asks the app to quit, stops background services, and forgets installer package receipts.
- A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 10 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.
- The cask does not pin a checksum for this download (an unversioned URL), so the file can change without notice.
