Windows

• Delivered as a standalone setup program (.exe) for x64.
• Installs for all users on the PC, which normally requires administrator rights.
• Supports unattended install with -sfx_nu /sAll /rs /msi.
• Declared install modes: interactive, silent, and silentWithProgress.
• Registers the acrobat://, acrobat2018://, acrobat2019://, acrobat2024://, and launchreader:// link protocol.
• Associates with the file types .aaui, .acrobatsecuritysettings, .api, .bpdx, .chs, .fcdt, .fdf, .pdf, .pdfxml, .pdx, .rmf, and .secstore and others.
• Shows up in Windows “Installed apps” as “Adobe Acrobat (64-bit)”.
• Upgrades install over the existing version.

macOS

• Delivered as a disk image (.dmg) for Apple silicon and Intel.
• Runs the installer package AcroRdrDC_2600121662_MUI.pkg; package installers usually ask for an administrator password and can place files anywhere on the system.
• Requires macOS 13 or later.
• The app updates itself, so it may be newer than the version Homebrew lists.
• On uninstall, Homebrew asks the app to quit, stops background services, forgets installer package receipts, and deletes 2 extra files.
• A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 10 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.
